The Great Martyr

Today is a special day for all Indians,

Yes! it is the day when India’s National leader, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.  On January 1948 the world witnessed the death of the great prophet of non- violence.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, commonly known as Gandhiji was born on 2nd October  1869. India was under the British rule at that time. The young Gandhi’s mind earned for freedom. Even though there was struggle for freedom, Gandhiji opted the non- violence method. Non- cooperation and Satyagraha were his way of strike. He had the courage to speak  for the rights to anybody. Not afraid of anything, he stood for the untouchable. He believed in honesty and was so particular to speak and behave honestly. The wold celebrates his birthday as the International Day of Non- violence. Whole the world respect the most loved and respected leader of India.

India got Independence on 15th August 1947 , but our great leader was not ready to be the part of the government. He was struggling hard to maintain the peace among the Hindus and Muslims. He stood for communal harmony and the equality for all; without cast or creed. On the eve of 30th January 1948 while he was going for the regular prayers, a religious fanatic called Nathuram Godse shot him down. That was the end of a great national leader and human being. He was cremated at Raj Ghat, New Delhi and a memorial was there.Today is the day when all Indians should remember the Father of our Nation,as a tribute and make the new generation know how we got Independence.
